Merry Christmas

from our pastoral team

From all of our team we wish you each a very Merry and Meaningful Christmas Celebration! Whatever the coming days hold for you, we pray that Jesus will fill your vision and heart. Allow the scandal of God becoming flesh to lead you in wonderous amazement, as you are moved afresh by the depths of God's love for you and for our world.

Teen Missions Update

Continue to pray for our amazing teens (Leo, Amity, Mercy & Sarah) who are currently completing their pre-trip training in QLD before heading overseas with Teen Missions. Each team will have their commissioning service today before then boarding international flights.

Teen Missions are posting updates on their facebook and instagram accounts (including a hilarious video update on some inclement weather they experienced a few days ago featuring three of our crew).

Highlights & Gratitude: What a weekend!

That was a great triple header of events to begin our Christmas week! First we had the incredible turnout, phenomenal production and expression of church unity in Carols in the Stadium. Then the encouragement and cuteness of our Kingdom Kids 'around the world' Christmas Service. Then the weekend wrapped up with the intimate and sacred space of our Blue Christmas Service. Quite the variety of Christmas events! Each one different and uniquely meaningful, helping us engage with fullness of Good News found in the God of the Christmas story.

What a privilege to see so many from NVBC involved in The Carols in the Stadium - from planning committees, the onstage band (go Matt!), to MC (yes Zach!), choir (thanks Marcia and Coplands), coordinating volunteers (thanks Leisel!), and volunteering in various ways on stations and welcoming everyone to the Stadium (thanks team). A huge thank you to all who helped and for all who came out to support and be part of the first Carols in the Stadium. Let us give thanks for the clear expression of Gospel unity in our city and pray for the impact on all who came to experience it with us.

A big thank you goes to Rachel and her team of Kingdom Kids Leaders for a year of lovingly and faithfully serving our kids, and for the work that went into coordinating yesterday's morning service. It was a great reminder that among all the various family and cultural traditions around the world, the heart of our Christmas celebration is the rejoicing in Jesus as Saviour of the world!

Thank you to those who joined for our Blue Christmas Service last night. Thank you for the way you each honoured the space and one another, as together we brought our griefs before the God who is with us. Our annual Blue Christmas Service also serves as a reminder to our whole church (not just those who were there), that there are quiet and unseen griefs being carried by many into the Christmas season. And so we invite you to be mindful of and to be praying for all in our community who are.
