2nd July 2025

Mid-Year Check Point

from Travis

From birthdays to anniversaries and New Year's Day, there are multiple markers and "check points" throughout each year. These opportunities give us moments to reflect on what has been, to name what's going on within us in the present, and to connect with our desires for what the next season will hold for us.

I assume that, for most of us, July 1 comes and goes without much fanfare or notice. (Or if you are like me, you might prefer to ignore it completely, feeling that "surely we can't be that far through the year already?"!). Nevertheless, I feel it is my duty to welcome you to the back half of 2025. Why? Because it can give us the opportunity to invite a mid-year check in with ourselves and with God.

At the beginning of this year, 128 of us wrote down a Pursue Prayer for the year to come. It expressed our prayerful desire for the areas or ways we sought to pursue 'the more' that Jesus has for us to take hold of across the year. Whether you filled in and returned one or not, I would encourage you to prayerfully reflect sometime this week on how your year with God has been going so far. A mid-year self check-in. And as you look ahead to the back half of the year, consider afresh what do you desire to pursue with God in the coming six months.

Kingdom Kids: term in review

What a term it has been in Kingdom Kids!

It was been so great this term to see all the children come each week to learn about God and his love for them. This term has been rough with illness but there is still so much to celebrate in what God is doing.

This past term we have seen the children learn about God’s Love where they learnt that Jesus shows us God’s love and they discovered that we best know how to love others by discovering the love of God through Jesus. We’ve also been exploring Peace in both our older and younger rooms, talking about when we have God’s peace within our hearts that will then naturally overflow out into our lives and impact others too.

It was also amazing to see that our grades 4-6 came together to jointly raise money for State Kids camp. The amazing effort they out into creating and selling all our delicious baked goods was so great. We cannot wait to see what the Lord going into term 3.

The Valley Youth: unity across churches

The past two weeks our youth have been offsite with other youth groups on the Central Coast for combined youth events. These included a bush dance at Wyong Baptist and a Youth Alive regional rally at IC Church. Check out some of fun pictures below.

Daniel Sze visiting NVBC

Daniel Sze is coming to visit on Sunday morning. He will be sharing in our AM service about the ministry he is doing with First Nations churches around NSW. God has given Daniel a heart for discipleship, and mobilising the next generation of indigenous Christians to lead their churches and their communities. And he is doing so in a unique way - through building relationships between Chinese-Australian Christians in Sydney and indigenous churches and pastors in regional NSW. Come and hear about his heart for our brothers and sisters - on the first Sunday of NAIDOC week!

If you are interested in hearing more, the InterMission team will be hosting Daniel for lunch after the service. Anyone is welcome to join. Please let Johnny know if you plan on coming.

New Song: The King is in the Room

Last Sunday we introduced a new (to NVBC) song that speaks to the life-changing reality of God's power and presence with us as we gather together as God's people. As we consider Exodus 40 this Sunday and the way that God delights to presence himself in the Tabernacle and make his glory known, this song is a great celebratory reminder that Our King is in the Room!!

This Sunday

This Sunday AM Travis will conclude our Exodus series in ch40, as God's glory fills the Tabernacle! We also have a visit and update from our supported missionary Daniel Sze, and Kids packs will be available during the service.

This Sunday PM we are excited for Mercy Brown, Amelia Burton, Alice Clement, Lizzy Haak, Isaac Holland, Isaac Matthews and Chloe Nicholson to publicly declare their faith in Jesus through Baptism!
