29th November 2024

The Advent Season is upon us

On Sunday our calendar ticks over to December and we begin observing our 2024 season of Advent together! In the words of The Bible Project:

Advent is a four-week season in the Church calendar dedicated to anticipating the arrival, or "advent," of Jesus of Nazareth, the long-awaited Messiah and King. Advent can be a simple and fun tradition of counting down to Christmas. But for others - particularly those who believe in Jesus to be the incarnation of God and the long-awaited Messiah - Advent is a shared experience of meditation and prayer that celebrates the arrival of Jesus.

It's a time to reflect on the unexpected nature of Jesus' humble birth and join in the anticipation of when he will come again to reunite Heaven and Earth once and for all.

To help us engage meaningfully throughout the Advent season at NVBC this year, we are joining the worldwide movement of churches conspiring to make Christmas meaningful again! Check out the below video to hear a bit more of the heart behind the movement:

Advent Conspiracy have also compiled Devotionals for each day between Dec 1 and 25, written by pastors and church leaders from all around the world. You can access the Advent Conspiracy Devotionals here. to help engage meaningfully with the Scriptures in the lead up to Christmas.

Serve With Us

What a fun morning we had together last week!! We sure do have so much to be thankful for and to celebrate as a church community. A massive thank you, thank you, thank you once again to all who help make NVBC home and who help serve one another in love.

If you did not get the chance to fill out a serve with us form last Sunday, it's never too late to join the fun and joy that is found in serving God and others here at NVBC! You can explore your next step in serving by letting us know here or by talking to one of our pastoral team anytime.

Speaking of serving with us... we are currently recruiting for our Christmas Carols on Dec 15!! If you would like to help with outdoor decorations, BBQing, face painting, kids craft station, welcomers, car park, giant slide supervision or just general help please let us know here.

Bamcamp 2025

Tickets go on sale for our 2025 Bamcamp next week! The Valley Youth camp is always a highlight and peak experience, and we encouraged you to grab your ticket early and secure your place.

If you are shopping for the perfect Christmas gift for someone in high school, you can gift the joy of camp this year with a BamCamp Gift Voucher!

For all camp information, gift vouchers and sponsorship options visit: https://www.nvbc.info/thevalley/bamcamp

Better World Gifts Stall

For the first 3 Sundays in December, we will set up a Better World Gifts stall after our services. An initiative of Baptist World Aid, these cards are a much more impactful purchase than another generic glittery Christmas card!

You can support some of the world's poorest and most vulnerable with a practical gift (which is where the money goes to), all while sorting out your Christmas cards for family and friends. You can learn more about them here.

It is so good to give or receive a Baptist World Aid card at Christmas, knowing that a family or community around the world is being blessed because of you. Cards start at as little as $5.
