Serve With Us!
from Johnny
Wasn’t it wonderful celebrating and thanking God last Sunday morning. We want to take a moment to reiterate our thanks for the army of volunteers that serve with us every week, and to relive the fun of our Thanksgiving service on Sunday.
There are over 150 who serve on a regular roster, plus all the people who sign up to help with special events, and those who lend a hand in more informal ways. Thank you all!!
Travis shared an exciting statistic from our recent NCLS survey - about 1 in 3 people at NVBC are keen to be more involved than they currently are. If that’s you, please jump on to our serving survey (if you haven't already) and help us to start the conversation with you about how you can serve (or serve more) with us: nvbc.info/serve.
Carols in the Stadium
from Josh White
I just wanted to provide a small update on the Carols In The Stadium for those who may not have seen or heard much about it as yet. The short story is that churches from across the Coast have come together to provide a carols experience as a gift to the community we live in. A few of us have been meeting since February to plan together and it's been wonderful to see the team grow and have many (and more) churches represented across multiple denominations, all seeking to see Jesus' name lifted high at Christmas.

As Zach mentioned on Sunday it's coming up quickly and access is ticketed. We are using the grass as a picnic style option, or the eastern stand out of the afternoon sun, and we are spoiled to have people from NVBC involved in multiple ways such as hosting, the house band, and the choir. We had first rehearsals for the choir on Monday and they went beautifully well (the choir is meeting at NVBC so I got to listen in for a couple of hours and it was just wonderful).
What a privilege it is this year to also host our own Narara Carols, at home and serving those most local to us (on Dec 7), and then also to have the extended family come together in the Stadium and further deepening the Christmas experiences this year (on Dec 20). We are hopeful that this may be the first of many! There is an observable and growing unity amongst churches on the Coast in 'doing things together' which many have been praying into for years if not decades, and these first fruits are delightful to see.
Update: Treasurer Role
Last Sunday we had the chance to publicly thank Dave Kenny for his incredible service as NVBC's Treasurer over the past 6+ years!! We have been phenomenally blessed to have such a capable and godly guy serve our church in this way, and a special thanks also to his wife Gayle for supporting Dave in his role as our Treasurer. As Dave concludes in the role of Treasurer, the baton (or should we say 'flannel shirt') now passes to Kylie Seal as our new NVBC Treasurer!

We are likewise incredibly thankful to Kylie, with the support of her husband Graham, for stepping into this significant volunteer role within the life of our church. Please be in prayer for the transition and for Kylie as she prepares her first budget (with the support of Dave) to be presented to the church in December.
A Historic Milestone

The YouVersion Bible App is celebrating hitting the incredible milestone of now being installed on over 1 BILLION devices!
The founder of YouVersion commented that "we're seeing incredible global momentum around Bible engagement", with the app seeing an increase of 18% daily usage compared to last year. Closer to home, over half a million Aussie devices have installed The Bible App so far this year alone. Let's give thanks for the impact of Bible engagement across our world and let us be people of the Word, who delight in spending time together with God in the Scriptures.

New Song: Here Again
In the morning services we have been following the story of the Israelites in the book of Numbers. They had left the hard yet familiar season of slavery in Egypt and find themselves journeying through (and wandering in) the wilderness, that place of in between as they anticipate a future not yet laid hold of.
Throughout their journey, a central motif (despite their propensity to complaining!) was the promise and reality of God's presence remaining with them right where they were. “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” — Exodus 33:14
Recently we introduced the 2018 worship song 'Here Again' in our Sunday Services. It is a song of simple faith, vocalising our trust in and desire for the presence of God in our lives, even in the valleys and "in between" spaces. If you haven't had the chance yet to listen and familiarise yourself with the song, a link is below.
This Sunday
Sunday AM: Kaye Ryan will continue our Numbers series, speaking on Numbers 21:4-9.
Sunday PM: Travis Ryan will continue our Mark series, speaking on Mark 7:31-37. There will also be an opportunity to receive prayer for healing offered after the service.
