Don't underestimate what God can do!
Over the first three Sundays of 2024, Lewis, myself and Johnny (this coming Sunday AM) have encouraged us to look to the year ahead with fresh intentionality, faith, courage and expectation. It comes from the conviction that it is "never just another year" when God is consistently, powerfully and lovingly at work in our lives! He is the one "who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20).
In January last year, many of you shared a prayer for how you would grow as a disciple through 2023. It was a privilege to pray into those, send reminders throughout the year (to those who included their names) and hear the ways some saw a shift, progress or answers to that prayer across the year. On Sunday I will extend another invitation to reflect on and pray about the year to come, and then share one big thing you would love to see God do in your life this year.
I encourage you: don't underestimate what God can do in your life this year!
Ministry Highlight: Prayer Meeting
On Wednesday Night, 26 of us gathered together to pray over the life of NVBC in 2024! We spent time praising God as a group, before circulating around prayer stations in smaller groups to pray into areas of our church life and ministry for the year to come. At the end, during a time of open sharing, many shared their sense of how significant the time of prayer was for our church. The collective feeling was that we should do this more! So watch this space.
Below were some of the suggested prayer points at each station. You can use them to fuel your own personal prayer times as you join with us in interceding over the year to come.

Thailand Short-Term Mission Team
Our Short-Term Mission Team flew out on Wednesday morning, arriving in Chiang Mai Wednesday evening to visit Mauna and Villy, and help with the church building project and the Beauty and Beyond Ministry there. The new church building is now complete, and will be dedicated in a special service today (Friday).

The STMT are heading to Chiang Rai on Tuesday. They're going to visit one of the missionaries, Dema, and help run an English Language Camp. The program that they have organised will run for the whole school day on Thursday the 25th of January. Please pray that all the planning of activities that the team have done over the last few weeks before they left will be well accepted and the kids and the team will have a lot of fun.

This Sunday PMÂ we will be doing 'church in the courtyard' - a relaxed summer-time church service out in the forecourt. Come for the simple stripped back worship. Come for the short reflection to guide us into the year. Come for the community and unhurried time to connect. Plus we'll have plenty to snack on as we do all of the above! |
