Keep Praying!
from Travis
“Pray continually.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
As we come to the end of our six-week series on prayer, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 remind us that prayer was never intended to be something we simply study and then move on from. Prayer is an invitation to a life continually turned towards God. It is a blessed practice that we are continually learning, putting into practice and growing in across our lives as disciples.
My encouragement at the end of our series is simple: keep praying! If you are someone who gets discouraged by not having "the perfect prayer life" (as if such thing exists!) or by comparing yourself to the prayer lives of others, let me remind you that prayer is personal, relational and real. Keep growing in prayer from where you are now. Keep making space for God in your daily lives. Time after time, keep coming back to Him in prayer. As we do, we live out the Father's heart for us to be a house of prayer!
Looking back over the past six weeks, take a moment to reflect on:
How have you grown in prayer?
Has something changed in the way you pray, what you pray for, or how you experience God through prayer?
Has God given you a new rhythm, a new perspective, a particular answer, or perhaps a deeper awareness of His presence?
If you have some answers to those questions and you’re willing to share, the team and I would love to hear from you! You can drop me an email directly or share how you've grown in prayer with any of our pastoral team.
A big thank you those who have already shared the ways you have been putting our prayer series into practice over the past month and a half. What an encouragement! I truly believe God is at work among us, deepening a culture and practice of prayer right across our church community. Which comes as no surprise, as this is the Father's heart and vision: that we would be a house of prayer at NVBC!
Compassion Sunday

This Sunday morning, we will be hosting Mark Bonnici from Compassion Australia. He's going to share with us about the work of Compassion in helping to lift people out of poverty in Jesus name. NVBC has partnered with Compassion for a long time – and many of us sponsor children through compassion (close to 100 kids are sponsored by NVBC members!)
So for those who already sponsor kids, thank you for your generosity and selfless love. And to anyone who is interested in becoming a child sponsor, Mark will have a stall in the foyer on Sunday to answer questions and help you sign up.
The Marriage Course - starts Monday

If you're married (or soon-to-be married), we'd love to invite you along to one of our TWO marriage course options, starting on Monday (August 17). You can attend either online or in person (thanks to Ken and Belinda for hosting the in-person option!)
This seven week course is a great way to invest in your marriage relationship, whether your thriving or just surviving, the course provides a chance to talk and connect and work on your relationship together in a structured way. There's no group work - just video content to watch, and time for conversations with your spouse. And the in-person option will include supper each week!
Head to our what's on page to find out more and RSVP TODAY for the course that works best for you!
