Washing Feet
What motivates you? What moves you to act? So much of our culture today revolves around the motivation, 'What's in it for me?' People say things like, "You should only do those things that bring you joy." "Do the things that are life-giving… and if there are things that are hard or boring or unpleasant, do them with a view to the pay-off, that those things will be worthwhile in the end."
There is a kind of wisdom to this way of thinking - but at its heart, it is not the way of Jesus. The way of Jesus is the way of love: the Movement of Foot-Washing - loving and serving one another from a motivation of love, a focus not on ourselves but on the other, be it loving our neighbour, or loving God. At NVBC, our vision is always to be 'Desperate for God & Passionate for People'.
So who are you called to love this week? All are called servants in the Movement of Foot-Washers. How can your gifts and your calling fill the need?
If you don't know where to start, maybe you could start by looking for new ways to serve at NVBC! Our team would love to have a chat with you. Fill our our handy interest form here and we'll get in touch!
Good News Story: Emerging Leaders
We love being part of the Coast Baptist network of Churches, and are committed to finding ways to partner together to strengthen our movement of Churches and reach the Central Coast for Jesus! One initiative that has emerged from our network (pun intended) is a collaborative cohort based leadership development program that brings together young adult leaders from across the churches.
This year we are celebrating that 4 of our NVBC young adults have joined the 2026 Emerging Leaders Cohort! Last week the Cohort began with two nights away together. In the words of Cohort Leader Louise Ecclestone "it was a really encouraging time — the group leaned in wholeheartedly, formed new friendships across churches, and spent meaningful time encouraging and praying for one another... Our aim is to help shape men and women who will become Christlike leaders in whatever God calls them to: in their future careers, families, neighbourhoods, and church communities."
Please pray for Olivia, Maddie, Joné and Georgia as they continue with the Emerging Leaders Cohort throughout this year.
Lent Starts Next Week
Lent is an ancient spiritual practice engaged in the lead up to Easter. It is a time of preparation and personal renewal, often expressed through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. To help mark Lent together as a church this year, we have prepared a daily reading plan through the Gospel of John. You can pick up a printed copy of the reading plan at the Info Desk. Lent begins Wednesday February 18.
If you would like to engage with others who are reading through our Lent Bible Reading Plan, we have a private Facebook Group for daily reminders and the chance to share a reflection on the reading. You can join our NVBC Bible Reading Group here.
The Valley Youth | Term 1

This term at The Valley Fridays we will be working through The Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5-6.
Jesus has so many good things to teach us about how to live our lives in a way that God desires. Many of these teachings are counter-cultural leading skeptics to think Christianity is all about 'following rules'. The truth of the matter is, each and every 'rule' Jesus gives us is rooted in deep theological reasoning. Reasoning that when understood causes us to want to obey. This is why each week, as we read Matthew we are asking:
What is Jesus teaching us? and...
Why is Jesus teaching us this?
The Valley Sundays also returns THIS SUNDAY (15th Feb) during the AM Service.
This will involve snacks, a fun game and a casual, discussion-based bible study related to the passage from the sermon that week.
