Next Door is for Sale!

NVBC family and friends, we start our year with an unexpected potential opportunity: the neighbouring property is up for sale. For those unaware, 151 Narara Valley Dr is located to the north of NVBC on the other side of the fence line which our carpark runs along. It is a large property, one with some restrictions but one with incredible possibilities of what could be.


In the past, previous boards and elders have intentionally investigated and considered what it could look like for NVBC to acquire the property should it ever come up for sale. Both in the past and in the present, we continue to dream about ways that NVBC can bless and serve our broader community. In the recent past, we have recognised the importance of resourcing ministry into the future through exploring income generating sources that align with our vision and values. Could this property becoming available now be part of God's answers to those conversations and prayers??


Maybe.


As this property becomes available, we have to ask ourselves and prayerfully discern together "is this a God-opportunity for NVBC to pursue?".

Both the elders and board met this week to discuss the for sale sign next door, and believe we cannot just sit idly by while next door is sold. Instead we feel called to proactively investigate and prayerfully consider that question, "is this a God-opportunity for NVBC to pursue?".


To that end a taskforce is currently being assembled to investigate the potential options of the site, the financial viability of such options for NVBC and to report back their learnings and any recommendations. We are very aware of the time pressures on this process (the property is for sale now!) and know that this is likely to be a once in our lifetime opportunity before the property is expected to be subdivided and developed by others.



What can we do??


  • Pray!

We are calling the church to prayer!

Pray for God's wisdom and leading in this, as we want to be a people that are led by God in all things.

Pray that if this is something for us as a church, that God would make it clear and keep the door open to NVBC.

Pray for favour with the current owners.

Pray that if this is something for us, that God would provide the resources and partnerships needed.


  • Feedback

  • Volunteer expertise

    If you have any relevant skills and experience (and the passion and availability to offer them), we would love to hear from you. Anyone with skills and experience in development, DA's, subdividing properties, construction, finance, government grants, and contract laws would be helpful to know.


  • Consider Personally Investing

Throughout the Scriptures and throughout Church History, there are many examples where Kingdom projects were resourced by the extraordinary generosity of individuals who were moved by the Spirit to do so. We don't want to limit God by not putting this out there...

I am so excited to be back on team this year! Sarah has done an absolutely amazing job while I’ve been on maternity leave, it has been wonderful to watch all your children to leave with smiles and come back with such excitement these past few months.


I am grateful that I have had this time to get to know our sweet Abigail and that our family has had this time to stop and really adjust to life with her around too. As we start to look at the year ahead I am excited to partner with you and help guide your children in their faith journey, I pray that as we look forward Christ is guiding each move that we make and our hearts are constantly with him.

This Sunday AM

Join us as Josh Thomas continues our January series, helping us dwell on the spiritual reality that "blessed are those who trust in God" (Psalm 46). Kids packs will be available during the service.


This Sunday PM

Our PM weekly gatherings kick off from this Sunday with a relaxed time of connection at the Wood's place! Whether you want to jump in the pool or stay dry and chat with others, it's sure to be a great time of connecting together. There will be a simple BBQ dinner too, so please rsvp here so we have an idea of numbers (you'll be sent their address once you register).
