Acts 2:42-47

Recap:

  • What did you take away from Acts 2:22-41 (in last week's sermon or Connect Group Study)?

    • What encouraged you or challenged you as we celebrated baptisms on Sunday?

In parts 1&2, we read about the Holy Spirit’s arrival, the disciples speaking in other languages, and Peter preaching a powerful sermon. 3000 people became Christians that day! Let’s read about them and the other disciples, and the community they formed in the weeks and months that followed...

Read Acts 2:42-47

  • How is their church life similar to ours?

    • How is it different?

  • Which of these practices do you find most inspiring or rewarding in your own experience of church? Why?

    • Which do you find most difficult or challenging? Why?

  • Why do you think they decided to do these together?

    • What is important to you about living the Christian life with others?

  • Which elements of church life do you think produced "the favor of all the people," resulting in the daily salvations of others who are being added to their number?

    • Do you think our way of doing church together produces this same outcome? Why/why not?

  • Brainstorm together:

    • What elements of church life could you be more involved in?

    • What elements of church life could we seek to grow in as a connect group

      • What elements could we seek to grow in as a church?

Just like in Acts 2:42, we have devoted ourselves to the teaching of the Apostle Luke here in Acts, we have fellowshipped together, we have broken bread together - so now let’s spend a good time praying for one another!

  • You might want to pray for these things:

    • For each person to overcome their personal challenges in living in Christian community

    • For this group to grow together as we help one another to grow as disciples

    • For our church as a whole to grow in devotion, awe, sharing with each other and praising God together

    • For those who are outside and looking in, that they would look upon NVBC with favour, and be drawn in and saved and added to our number daily
