• How do you think Balak and the Moabites felt about the Israelites? Were they right to feel this way? Why/why not?

Read Numbers 22:8-20

• Balaam is not an Israelite - far from it! In the overall context of Exodus/Numbers, what does this interaction between Balaam and God reveal to us?

• Why do you think God relented and let Balaam go with the messengers the second time?

Read Numbers 22:21-35

• What caught your attention or stood out to you here?

• Why do you think God allowed Balaam to go, yet sent an angel to stop him?

• What does the strangeness of a talking donkey reveal about God - and about us?

• Have you ever experienced God directing (or redirecting) you on your path like this?

God gives Balaam seven messages of blessing to speak to Balak, spread across chapters 23 and 24. We will just read the second one together.
