  • What is the biggest/most significant risk you've ever taken?

    • What made you take the risk?

    • What was the outcome?

    • Was it worth it, or do you regret it?

Read Acts 20:17-38

  • From Paul's speech, what seems to be his approach to risk-taking?

  • How much has God made known to Paul? And how much is unknown to him?

  • Have you ever found yourself wanted God to make things clearer for you as you follow Him? If so, what happened?

Reread verses 25-38

  • How do Paul's final words to his friends sum up his attitude?

  • If Paul's calling (to be Apostle to the Gentiles) was unique, what aspects of his lifestyle did he want the ordinary Christians of Ephesus to copy?

    • How willing/able do you feel to live that way, emulating Paul's faith and life?

  • What faith-based risks do you think about or wonder about taking in your own life at the moment?

One of our values at NVBC is to be "A Pioneering People: embracing faith-based risks".

  • How have you seen that value play out in the life of our church in the time you've been attending here?

  • How do you hope to see it going forward in the next year? What about in the next 5-10 years?

  • Do you imagine yourself playing a part in that pioneering work? Why/why not?

Spend some time praying for one another, and for our church, that we would live out our faith and follow Jesus into the unknown.
