Real Conversations About Community
Melissa Baker’s Story
During our weekend away, Melissa shared with us some of her early years. A story that reaches into the depths of forgiveness, grace, and restoration; saved from a world of drugs, suicide, and living on the streets of Sydney.

Our panel, Jonathan Gould, Nicola Morley,
Craig Pinel & David Porter shared aspects of themselves with us as
we began to nudge a number of community-related themes.
The goal of the panel experience was to:
- To discover something new about the 'why' of Community
- To inspire hope and confidence in the nature and practice of Community
- To challenge some common delusions about Community
The questions that the panel had worked with for some time before our event, individually and collectively were:
- What communities do you currently participate in?
- How important is community to you? How has that sense developed?
- What factors have you come across that inhibit the working of ‘community’?
- What dynamics do you see are the essence of Christian community?
- Why participate in community?
